Recurring dreams: what to record before interpreting?
Seeing the same dream scene again can make you want an immediate answer. Repetition alone does not predict an event. To notice what matters to you, compare the dreams across nights instead of assigning a fixed meaning to an image.
Record three things after each waking
Briefly note the opening scene, what happened and the ending. Mark what stayed the same and what changed: a door, a person, or your own response. The account need not be complete while the memory is hazy.
Use one word for the feeling in the dream and another for the feeling on waking. Add any waking-life context that you yourself consider relevant. This is your observation, not evidence about another person or a future event.
Three questions for comparing the dreams
What repeated exactly? What changed over time? In the latest dream, what did you do differently, however small? These questions keep attention on the dreamer's experience rather than a generic symbol dictionary.
If someone you know appears, note your own association with them rather than inferring their real intentions. A symbolic reading is a prompt for reflection; you may keep, revise or discard any interpretation that does not fit.
When not to keep interpreting alone
